i was looking into getting myself a new graphics card recently, while i still have money. i saw a Radeon X800XL 256MB on komplett (pci express) or Sapphire Radeon X800PRO 256MB (agp), and was gonna get one of these.

but is there any way of finding out if my dell dimension 8300 is compatable with the card? is it pci express compatable, and if i'll need a new power supply/fan etc...

dont know much about graphics cards, so any advice would be appreciated.

    the two cards are here

also, i can post my exact computer specs if needed.

It was shipped 2 years ago so I assume that you have a AGP slot.

Unless you have a shed load of HDD's and other things running aswell, the PSU shouldnt be a problem.

EDIT: They're mor than likely an AGP slot in it, but if you're unsure, there should be a diagram of your mobo in the user manual. It'll say AGP whatever in there.

Download Evervest or SiSandra (see free essential software sticky)
This will tell ya what gfx you have and the info of your mobo.

There sdhouldnt be a problem. They peak at about 345W. Should be plenty of power. I'm running a 6800GT on the bog standard PSU.
