Figured it was finally time to get myself a digital camera, so here I am looking for advice! I'm intending to use it for general photography but I'll mainly be using it for taking photos of judo (those of ye not familiar with it, martial art sport, can be very quick at times) and therefore, want to get one that'll give me good clear photos even when the pace of the match increases.
Also, I'm really new to it all, so if ye could please tell me what I should looking for (also, to avoid!) when purchasing?

(HP Photosmart R707 5.1MP, what ye think of this one...I only mention it cos it's going for €230 on komplett.ie and it's got good reviews there)

    Thanks!!

When I was buying my camera couple of years ago I read all the user reviews on various cameras at http://www.dpreview.com. I found them very informative. I purchased my camera from http://www.pixmania.com. I have recommended them to numerous friends since without any problems

Egon if you want good judo shots indoors with natural light you will need a DSLR with fast glass....something like a canon 20d (5 frames per second) and canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS, this is expensive...alternatively you could use slower glass and use a hotshoe flash...you could also use a consumer camera but the lightening would have to be Excellent, for shooting judo indoors. Consumer digital cameras have a long shutterlag...if I were to purchase a consumer digtial camera I would buy a canon G6 as the range on this camera is better than the HP Photosmart R707...also the f stop range on the g6 f2-3 were as the HP Photosmart R707 is f2.8-4.9 (slower)...these cameras are good for out door shots and the like were the lightening is good but for indoor action photography I would'nt recommend...
