This is a dell recovery cd.. will only work on a dell system of exactly the same spec. It will fail on any other manufacturer

    Its rubbish,

    1. it has no cd-sticker!! NO SERIAL NUMBER

    2. its OEM meaning u can only buy it with a computer legally

    dont waste ur money

    edit:
i did got some xp versions from dell working on other computers, BUT
it is not legal to do so and therefore not recommended or allowed.

    ok,

question: whats the computer like you want to install windows xp on?
    (Processor, Memory, Hard-drive space)
I recommend 500MHz+ with 256MB ram to have it run smooth and
a bit of room for applications to run.

For example u can buy it from komplett .
Read the information on their site about buying OEM software and do as they suggest and pick a €5 mouse.
    :)

is that feature(not working with other computers other then dell) injected into XP itself?

and why is that, if you install xp on dell, it never asks for password? how is that secure?

It was "injected" to win98 and ME and it is only "injected" on some winXP versions.

It never asked for a serial to put in, because i think:

that dell computers are not as good
and need to be reinstalled/repaired every so often
and u can only activate twice (or3x..) before ringing MS.

So they make it easier for their customers and save em some hassle.

Dont take this reply too serious, just pissed off with dell.

Had to activate couple of times, when installing on other computers, not that bad tbh.
