    RTÉ News has learned that the estimated cost of repairs to property damaged by the construction of the Dublin Port Tunnel is over €1 million.

    The information, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, also reveals that Dublin City Council has received over 1,500 complaints about the construction of the tunnel.

    41% of the complaints related to the noise caused by the tunnel's construction. The council also received complaints relating to vibrations, out of hours working, dust and rats.

    However, the most costly complaints relate to over 200 incidents of property damage which Dublin City Council estimates will cost almost €1.1 million to repair. The majority of damage consisted of minor cracks in property.

    Other complaints include jammed doors, roof damage and broken glazing.

    A local residents' group says the figures are just the tip of the iceberg. However, Dublin City Council says the damage caused is just 'cosmetic' in nature and it does not expect it to cost more than the €1.1m estimate.

    Am I alone in thinking that E1.1m doesn't sound too expensive for this?

    No, I think it's quite reasonable in a project of this scale.

    Same here! I mean it was bound to happen too. I completely understand the concerns prior to building too. It was such a lie to say it wouldn't effect the houses but wha else could they really say?
