New Custom PC Problem

I've built a new PC with these Specs:
    AMD Athlon64 3500+
    Arctic Cooling Freezer 64
    DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D
    1GB GEiL ValueRam PC3200 (2x512MB)
    Asus Radeon X800XL
    Antec Truepower 2.0 430W PSU
    Coolermaster Cavalier Case
    Windows XP Home Edition (OEM)

I reused these parts from my old computer (a Dell Dimension 4500):
    Maxtor 80GB Hard Drive
    Floppy Drive
    Samsung DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive

Windows installed fine from the CD and then tried to install Office 2003, but I got a Blue Screen Error saying
    Machine_Check_Exception
    Stop: 0x00000000C

I restarted the computer and tried again but i got the same error. Then I tried different CDs with the drive but the same thing happend. It seems that as soon as the CD starts up, the computer crashes with the BSOD. I'm thinking that it's a problem with the DVD drive since it's recently been acting up a bit in my Dell - it takes loads of presses of the eject button to open it and makes some odd noises when I'm doing this. Also, in the BIOS when I select the drive in the Standard CMOS features menu, all the information about cylinders and sectors and stuff displays a zero. When I select the hard drive I get lots if information about the numbers of cylinders, etc.

It looks like getting a new DVD Drive would solve the problem but I want to be sure before buying one. Could it be something like the IDE channel the drive is on being faulty or something like that?

    Thanks in advance

Have you installed the nForce chipset drivers?

    Yeah that's normal.
