I resize my browser to the smallest possible size, press alt and prtsc. I then try to paste it into paint, but nothing is available to paste.

Can anyone help me please? I need to include screenshots in my assignment and stumped if I know what the problem is.

I have tried variants of the above to no avail.

If you have a possible solution please let me know (and explain it to me like I'm a 10 year old)

All help much appreciated and many thanks

Alt+Print Screen only copies the current window of whatever program, not the full screen.

On windows it's just prnt scrn - no need for alt, ctrl or any such stuff .. simple hit prntscrn and paste to a new page in paint. or get

irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/) for just about the best small prog image handler possible! This prog rocks the socks! seriously easy to use. Don't forget to get the plug ins as well ;)

    :)

This takes a screen shot of THE ENTIRE SCREEN. What the dude wants is only a screen shot of the selected window (or the window in focus if you wanna get technical). You can do it by just hitting print screen and pasting it into paint also, but it'l involve cutting out the window you want and saving it again as another file...

thanks for your responses. I had tried all those various combinations and decided in the end that this function doesn't work on my computer. Used one at work, saved to disk and took the whole lot home!

true but a simple download of irfanview and install takes about three mins tops on broadband? Will do the job no problem and more _ it's free :)

ALT PRNT works and you don't need to download anything. Doesn't even cost 3 mins of time.. ;)
