what amp u using with the pedal and is it ur only way of gettin distortion of do u want it as a "boost" for ur deistortion already, i love the boss Od's they make an overdrive distortion pedal too, not sure of the name =/ but the Od-20 is pretty versatile, it has a good range of settings

You can't beat the Boss OD-3. Ultra smooth overdrive and it's not that expensive - I have two (just in case). I've always thought that the OD-1 was a better pedal than the TS808/9 and then Boss went and made a good pedal even better with the OD-3. I also have a Boss SD-1 that I did the Keeley mods on and it sounds pretty amazing too.

Of course the Ibanez TS series and Boss OD series are designed for overdriving the preamp stage of a tube amp, and this is what they're famous for. If you stick them in front of a solid state amp, they won't be performing at their best.
