    Hi,
I'm looking for a pair of runners that would be suitable for playing basketball on a hard court, football on astro turf, football indoors (wooden floor), jogging, cycling and maybe the odd bit of tennis.

It needs to be able to withstand all weather types, be comfortable, preferably black/navy in colour, have good support and cushion and most of all be durable enough to be able to put up with the likes of playing football with.

I don't know much about this kind of thing so if anyone has any knowledge to spair, please do:)

    Thanks

mods, this fits into a million categories on boards so thought I'd put it here, feel free to move it:)

you should buy some astro turf runners, i have a pair thay are durable, have a good grip, are comfortable and durable. They fit all your requirements imo. They are worth checking out anyway to see what you think.

Yeah, get astro turf trainers or you can get indoor football shoes too.
Generally however, the best thing is to go into a decent sports shop and ask there...

Yeah I suppose so. Whats generally the best sports shop? Champion? Lifestyle? Paddy Power (hehe)? Also, do the chain shops of the same franchise have different prices or are they always the same?

Would astro be ok for wood?

Asking in a sports shop isn't as good an idea as people think, I needed a pair of Nike Skylon for running in and in the Nike shop on Grafton Street one of the sales assstants had never heard of them, another than said they don't do half sizes in them, the Skylon were only made in full sizes, I was wearing a pair of 8 and a half at the time and then asked what I needed them for, I told them running and her advice was "how about the Nike Free, they're all the same". Try a gripy pair of running runners, like the Nike Storm Pegasus, there's loads at www.johnbuckleysports.com.

I wouldn't wear turf boots while jogging or playing on concrete, terrible blisters will be gotten.

    Hi,
thanks for the input. I've emailed johnbuckleysports.com anyway. Do you know if they check their mail often? Sent mail about an hour ago but may as well just ring up if they only check once a week or sumthin

Aha, so can I get a squirrel discount do you think;) ??

Are the ones you suggested any use for playing football with? Will they fall apart after a few games would you reckon?

Proper basketball shoes should surround the ankle, most cross trainers will not provide this support. From my experience, they don't fare too well when used for outdoor sports, but it is 10+ years since I last played so no doubt things have moved on since. I think astro-turn runners tend to have more grip then you normally find on basketball shoes, so you may find yourself sliding around.

If you play enough basketball to make it worth your while, I would recommend getting a pair specifically for basketball, and another pair of durable cross-trainers that you can use for everything else.

I don't know him that well, the Storm Pegs or other Nike Trail/Storm shoes are designed to cope with rough terrain and sh1tty weather so have strong uppers

Thanks for the advice. I don't really want to order a shoe online so I'll probably pick one up in Dublin somewhere.
