I am getting NTL BB and will be buying a wireless linksys router. I was going for the Linklsys WRT54GS but then saw the WRT54GP2 has 2 phone ports. Is this a better choice for VOIP? I just began using Skype to Skype to call my family in the US. I considered buying a Skype type phone and get rid of my landline. Would the the linksys be a better setup for something like blueface.ie? Thanks, I am a newbie.

Yes it is a better choice for VoIP - it saves you having to buy an ATA or IP-Phone - instead you can use a normal phone (or a DECT basestation) plugged directly into the router.

imho I'd steer clear of skype and either go for www.gizmoproject.com or www.blueface.ie - depending on what your requirements are for making and receiving calls.

Basically, Skype uses a proprietary protocol, whereas blueface and gizmo (and multitudinous others) use a standard protocol (SIP).

Ive a similar predicament and would like to know how you get on with that. there are some answers here you might find helpful http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054848339 But I dont think that the WRT54GP2 is suitable for a CATV connection ( i.e. the cable connection in the back) cant find any pics online of the available connectors on the back If you can please let me know.
