howdy - recently set up an 80s covers band and we're trying to decide on a name at the moment....any suggestions?

gotta be associated with the 80s, and something not too smart and not too cheezy

eurythmics, blondie, nena, kim wilde, prince, cindi lauper, wacko, soft cell, chaka khan, grace jones, imagination, human league, wham, alison moyet, pat benetar, depeche mode, duran duran...a few others i can't remember

...no echo and the bunnymen sadly

'Rubik's Pubes' - each one a different colour, now that would be a brainteaser

Some other smart alec suggested 'level 43'

it's kind of looking like we'll go for 'the breakfast club' but there's got to be something better

pugwash i know, but pugwall?? who he?

Don't do it. Level 43 is waaaay better.

My mate's 80s retro covers band (and you thought it was a novel idea) are called "Spring Break".

yeah, there are a few bands about doing it, but the names are usually really terrible. The best i've heard though is 'Kilkenny Vice' which is quite legendary

I was watching 'Scrapheap Challenge' earlier and one of the guys said something about "reverse axle articulation" or something like that. One of his teammates replied, "I think I remember going to see them in concert once!", and Robert Llewellyn laughed and said, "Ladies and gentleman, please welcome on stage Reverse Axle Articulation!" I thought to myself that that would actually be a great name for a band. What do you think of that one, perhaps? ;):D

    Reverse Axle Articulation
a guns n roses tribute waiting to happen...
    The dweebazoids
    i love it!

    also strongly considering 'Osamarama'

Actually, come to think of it, it may have actually been Full Axle Articulation. Something along those lines anyway.

And clay, you're right, when they mentioned the idea of a band called Full Axle Articulation or Reverse Axle Articulation or whatever it was, the first thing that popped into my head as well was that it would be a great name for a G 'n' R tribute band. Great minds think alike, eh? ;):D

    1) Big Hair
    2) The Shell Suits

Definitely reminds me of the eighties.
