    A bit of information.
Some people here think Zara charge the same prices here that they charge in Spain, well they don't.
I'm just back from Spain and the prices are way different.
Examples, all at normal retail prices (men only)

Mens Suit 2 piece grey pure wool
    Zara Spain 129.90 Euro
    Zara Dublin 179.90 Euro

Pair of shoes 59.90 in Spain and 75.90 in Dublin.

Leather jacket in Spain 179.90, same jacket in Dublin 279.90.

    and so on.

The VAT and delivery couldn't be that much?

And I think that they are cheaper again in Lanzarote - Porto del Carmen. 'Tis gas watching the ladies (mrs. hansov included) stock up on winter clothes with the sun beating down outside :D:D . Like oki said the price differences are pretty stark. I was looking at a jacket in Zara Lanarote which say was €49.99. Out of stock tho' so I checked for it a week later in Brussels and it was €20 more expensive in Brussels. And that was before Zara came to Dublin.

Zara tends to be around 33% cheaper in Spain (and Portugal.) They tend to be the same price throughout the rest of Europe, e.g. price in Ireland is the same as the price in Italy, France, etc.

Yep, I read that it would be the case in an article written just before the first Zara opened.

If you look at the price tags in places like Vero Moda, you'll see that the same product can have different prices across the Euro Zone, so it's not surprising that Zara do it.

I bough a pair of shoes in Pull and Bear in Spain for about 30 euro. When i looked at the tag, it had the price to be charged in different countries. In Ireland it showed 40 Euro. 1/3 extra just for fun.

Have you thought about how much is the usual salary in Spain?

I can tell you it is a lot less than here so things should be cheaper.

minimum wage in spain is considerably lower (less than half it is here)
& there is also v.a.t (& possibly excise duty ) to be taken into account.

Not entirely true. I have seen many times where the price is the same however blorg is correct to say that officially we are on the same band as Italy and France and wait for it...........UK is dearer than Ireland !

well i bought my daughter a pair of jeans in zara in portugal and they cost €7.90, saw the same ones here for almost €20. i went up to the manager and asked her why, she didnt have an answer. daylight robbery! its getting to the stage that it will be cheaper to fly to these countrys and buy the cloths then go into town here for them.

I have never quite understood this attitude. You should be going into all the _other_ overpriced shops in Dublin and complaining about _their_ prices. Obviously Zara have much higher staff costs and overheads here than in Spain/Portugal. Zara is still a very good deal in the context of the rest of what is available in Dublin, you have to compare like with like.

I can get a lovely bottle of Bordeaux in E. Leclerc for much less than I can get it in Oddbins, but I'm not in Oddbins haranguing them about it, I appreciate what they have brought to Ireland...
