travel insurance

I'm going on a 5 month RTW trip in september with trailfinders. their insurance is v expensive though. anyone know of any cheap but reliable travel insurance?

VHI (must be a member) do a yearly cheap enough and if you have an exisiting medical condition, you are covered unlike a lot of the others.
Also www.acetravelinsurance.ie look okay

They post the best bank account, credit cards, travel insurance in the papers on the weekends anyway and I recall a company called Blue dont as me for the link suggest you google it. They had the cheapest multi trip as will all insurance polices it needs to suit what you need ie if you are going on a round the world with lots of adventure thrown in you might want to read into the policy to ensure they can get away with out paying you with a small technicality, never had to claim travel insurance but from hearing what my mum went through when she tried to claim back stolen stuff from the house insurance they were cut throat and would not pay full amount etc. But primarily you would want a good package if it is going to be for a long period of time (check that to how long anyone trip can be, could stipulate 90days or somethings as unfortunately the odds probably increase of some mishap happening the longer you are away doing fun things. Not very specific of companies but Blue is a good start.

I second the VHI motion, super value for one year's insurance & not too many limitations. Don't even think you need to be a VHI member to avail! I am on my second year of it & have also purchased their ski add on.

I would recommend the VHI one, I had an accident on holiday this year where I disclocated my knee and was in hospital and missed my flight home.

The VHI covered the medical fees and booked me new flights home first class all the way and would even have a taxi at Dublin airport to bring me home!!!!!

Great and they acted very quick had everything sorted for me!!!!!

I will never slag the VHI prices again
