Does anyone know if this drill is any good will it be powerful enough to drill into a solid brik wall?

need more info, but I think and am open to corrections on this but as a rule if it isn't hammer action i don't think it's supposed to be drilling into concrete/brick.

Only guessing but I seem to remember seeing a flyer with these are on "special" in ALDI.

yep it is the aldi drill I inserted the link above, opps. It is in the bargain section as other 18V drill as far as I could see are alot more than 30yoyo

No hammer action. So this is not suitable for drilling into walls.

You should check out Argos if there is one near you. They have a flyer in store about all their end of season specials (they are changing their catalog soon and are selling off stuff).

They have a 24 V challenge cordless drill with hammer action. I got the 21 volt version of this 3 years ago and its still going strong. A really good tool. I can only guess that the one they have on offer is similar quality.

Best part is that it's marked down from 99.99 to 23.99!!!.

Definitely worth getting, and will drill into walls if you have masonry bits.

I got a set of a hammer action Cord drill, hammer action cordless drill, laser marker, 200 piece (i think) drill bit set in argos. Its 79.99 but when i paid it was down to 53 i think.
Got it last week. Its challenge extreme.

Drop into McQuillens in Capel street and get a cheap and cheerful hammer action. Sometimes as low as 9.99. The actual drills bits are often more important than the drill itself. Find one that uses SDS bits, though they are a bit more expensive they more far superior to the ordinary bits and last a lot longer.

Voltage is just a tool for marketing gimps. It gives no indication of the power of the drill except that higher power drills tend to user a higher voltage. Personally I'd rather a 12-14V drill 'cos you could run it off a car battery.

It would be nice if they stated the Wattage of the drills, then you could compare them to corded ones.

from my limited experience...if the drill is dirt cheap, the battery will be pretty crap and take hours to charge...dunno about the aldi one...thats what i found with one i bought in argos

My Black and Decker 18V has hammer action but it murders the battery. In fact a wired drill is just so much more powerful, so you might aswell have a cheap wired drill aswell. The battery in mine is shagged now, and a replacement will cost the same a new drill. So I haven't bothered replacing it. I bought a cheapo wired drill, and a cheap light battery powered drill for other things.
