Can anyone tell me the origin of this colloquialism please? It doesn't seem to be common in Argentina or Mexico, as they never use estar in this instance.

Do you know what this means?
It measn that he is not feeling very well, it is a way to say that someone is sick, nothing to do with religion....

Yes, I know what it means, thanks. I'm just looking for the origin or where it is most commonly used, as my Argentinian and Mexican friends aren't familiar with this saying.
