I had to shoo someone out of a yellow box today, somehow he didn't hear the tram honking at him.
    Second LUAS collision today
    25 July 2005 21:06

There has been a collision in Dublin city centre between a LUAS tram and a car.

The accident occured at the junction of O'Connell Street and Abbey Street.

    No injuries are reported.

Traffic on both sides of O'Connell St is currently blocked.

This is the second collision which has affected LUAS services today.

Earlier, a lorry driver crashed into the LUAS platform at Heuston station, which delayed services on the red line.

Luas collision halts city centre traffic
    From:ireland.com
    Monday, 25th July, 2005

Traffic was disrupted for a short time in Dublin city centre this evening after a car collided with an out-bound Luas train on the Red Line.

The incident happened shortly before 19.45 when a car travelling northwards collided with a Luas train on O'Connell St.

The car left the road and hit a traffic light on the side of the road after the initial collision.

It is understood the car which was involved in the collision had a foreign registration number.

Traffic was diverted along the quays while gardaí attended the scene.

Despite the serious nature of the incident, no injuries were reported.

This came just hours after a foreign registered truck became stuck between platforms at Heuston Station after driving down the tram only section of Steeven's Lane. Apparently the platforms had to be partially dismantled to get him out.

I was down at Hueston around that time.
Large circular saws were used to cut away pieces of the platform on the Heuston side!!

I hope payment for the repairs to the platform come from either the truck's owner/driver/insurer.
