How do you format a computer to reinstall Win 2k on a computer? Is it a case/as simple as right clicking C: drive and select format from that menu?

Once the computer is formatted, all I have to do is insert the Win 2k CD and off I go?

Insert the windows CD in the drive while running windows, there will be an option to install the OS from there (usually an autorun menu). Or set your computers bios to start from CD, usually called "boot order" have the CD in and follow the on screen instructions, there is this strange myth that putting the windows CD in will do something strange. Yet to work out why people seem to think this.

jsut to go into a bit more detail from what astec123 said:

When you run the install CD you'll be able to delete the existing partitions (and therefore effectively wipe the drive), create new ones and format them to either FAT or NTFS. And then install the OS.

Just follow the prompts and it should go ok. And since you wnat to format the drive you don't really have to worry about losing data! :D

    Thanks for that.

So, I insert the 2k CD and can format it from there?

Am not sure about the FAT/NTFS comment there. How do I know which one I should be formatting it to?

    Yes you do.
When you install it should have some list of drives where it wants you to choose where to put 2K. Find an option there to delete the drive and then try to install 2K on that. It should format it for you automatically. But I'm not that sure...

You should format it to NTFS for performance reasons, but if you go with FAT you can always easily convert it to NTFS later.
