    i'm headin off to ucd next yr and am considering taking up kickboxing.
    how does it compare to other martial arts.
    i'm 6'5' and can kick slightly higher than that so i guess that may be advantageous, also have a little boxing exp

    Kickboxing in UCD is points based, so it´s a fun sport and a good club to meet loads of people and have a great time, get in shape, etc. If you´re looking for actual fighting in a realistic sense, then it´s not going to provide what you´re looking for.

    well spoken to a certain extent.

    just try the TKD AND kickboxing. there's ninjutsu someone on boards does, sounds like rubbish to me but you may love it. give them a shot. there's a judo club, wrestling and BJJ i'm told.

    hey you may not become an all round martial arts extradorinare but you'll have a laugh and meet people.

    You know you want to give TKD a go :)
    Our sparring is semi-contact, points to green tag and then continuous after that. There's quite a big emphasis on sparring and fitness within the classes, if that would appeal to you.
    No offense against the kickboxing club, but what they do doesn't tend to be very kickboxing-orientated. They tend to concentrate more on the Lau Gar kung fu end of things, and (from a friend of mine who's a member of TKD, kickboxing and judo) the classes tend to be a tad undisciplined.
    BTW, if you have any questions about the club, PM me. :)
    </UCD TKD pimpage>
    ...then call over to Colm and give BJJ a go :)

    Well there's talk of a Muay Thai club starting in UCD next year... don't know who's involved in setting it up though, or what the story is.

    Doesn´t seem to stop them beating TKD in compromise rules ;P

    Do some zhoo zhitsu, then maybe wrestle, or some judu, and top it all off with some Boxing. Then you'll be a badass.

    Of course, if Thai gets the green light, do it.
