Had to walk from Heuston cos the bus driver came over the intercom to say he had to turn before the Four Courts at Church Street. The Gardai won't even let people walk past the Four Courts. The army bomb disposal unit are there now.

Yep, girlfriend is there in a taxi for last 20 mins, cops everywhere, big security operation...

So is it some dealer's big day in court or is it "our turn"?

Come to think of it, Dublin doesn't really get many of these at all, does it? Like, not even one a year, even.

Back home it's more like -

    "Bombscare yesterday."

"Oh. Want the rest of your chips there?"

the four courts gets a few a year.

it's probably some civil servant from the courts service who wants an unwarranted duvet day

Was cycling down the quays this morning. All traffic/pedestrians on north quays directed across on to thomas street (??). Heard on newstalk a member of staff found a suspect package.

Probably nothing - but given recent international events people will be (over)cautious.

Have to laugh though. Listening to the radio - "The Gardai arrived on the scene around 8 this morning, after a suspect package was reported. The Army Bomb disposal unit are now on their way. "

This was at 9:50. 110 minutes after the gardai arrived. :)

Given that the EOD team didn't have to travel too far, I'd guess the delay was in reporting, rather than by the Army.

YAY! I was wondering what the bang was while I waited for the bus. Finally I got to say "Sorry I'm late but there was a bomb scare" What is the world comin to at all.

Eh, bomb scares haven't been all that rare in Ireland down through the years.

No, the bomb disposal team arrived about 9-ish, on-the-spot report from the gf :-)

Boards.ie had the first mention of the event, before RTE etc. Well done that bloke who started the thread whos name I can't see at the mo...

Cheers :) The funny thing is that two guards walked up to the "package" and were within two feet of it while chatting to each other. This was before the bomb disposal unit arrived.

You never hear of anything happening to these hoaxers and we never know what the "elaborate" part of the hoax is. There is a bit of mystery about what happens on this stuff

Ah. Blame Spin's piss-poor news plagiarism then.

They weren't chatting about which wire to cut and one of them had 6 days until retirement? If so I'd start running. :D
