im not usually the one to be first in with these helpful replies and i dont even live in dublin but heck ill give it a go anyway ¬_¬

best bet if you want to get info on upcoming events and stuff is to have a look in some of the shops, which are -

forbidden planet - youll find it along the side of the liffey, on the south side, between ha'penny bridge and bridge at o'connell st (possibly called o'connell bridge >_<). hard to miss
3rd/4th dimesion - on crow st in temple bar. from central bank, head away from trinity college (cant remember street name), and its down a narrow street on your right, its about the second or third right, look for a broken sign hanging outside.

i know theres more but hell i cant remember them (help me out here dublinites), and im sure someone can give better directions.

also, to the best of my knowledge, there is a release event for upcoming 9th edition this coming saturday (july 30th), in UCD, coinciding with nationals. the release event is limited, and i would imagine that it will be pretty casual. er i think its at 11, but dont take my word for it.

    good luck anyway

    Taken from the mailing list...
CCGIreland presents the 2005 Magic: The Gathering National
    Championships
    and 9th Edition Prerelease events.

    Main Event: Free
This year’s Nationals will see 3 rounds of standard constructed,
followed by 6 rounds of draft, followed by 3 more rounds of constructed
before cutting to a top 8 playoff.
Entry is free for all qualified players and takes place all day
    Saturday
30th and Sunday 31st of June.

    Last Chance Qualifiers: €5
There will be 4 last chance qualifiers, starting each hour from 4.30pm
on Friday 29th June. Playing with standard constructed decks, this is
your last chance to qualify for nationals the following day. Each
qualifier will be straight knockout with the winner taking the slot for
    the following day.

    9th Edition Prerelease €17
Be the first to play 9th Edition. The 9th Edition Prerelease takes place on Saturday 30th July from 11am. Players will receive 5 9th Edition boosters and can add as much land as they want to make a 40+ card deck.

    Side Events
Side events will be running Friday evening and all weekend according to
demand. These will include champions/betrayers/saviours and 9th edition
    drafts.

All events occur at the UCD Student Centre, UCD from Friday 29th June
to Monday 1st August. For more information or to see if you are qualified
for the main event, please visit www.ccgireland.com.

So, the release event is on Saturday morning from 11am. I plan to go there and play the event and maybe a few drafts.

And where are these being held, not that I can make it (damn work and my good standard deck being locked in my friends house who's on holidays)

    UCD Student Centre, UCD (Dublin).

and the release tournament on Saturday you get 5 boosters and make a 40 card deck.

Unless you've already qualified or plan to qualify for Nationals, come and play in the prerelease for 9th Ed (not that there are many great cards in 9th ed...)

9th looks really good, much better than 8th. Or 7th and 6th from what I've seen.

from the mailing list as well...
    10, 11b, 46a.

You can check the timetable online but I believe that the 11b, while most convenient to the venue, is the least frequent.

All three buses can be caught on Nassau Street - the bus-stops are marked with the numbers of the buses stopping there. You should probably place yourself midwau between the 46a stop and the stop for the 11b and 10.

The 10 comes right in to UCD and leaves you at the far end of the campus to the student centre - about a ten-minute walk. The 11b will drop you to within 3 minutes of the student centre. If you get the 46a you have to get off at the Montrose Hotel, cross the dual-carriageway to get into UCD. Once you're at the main gate it's a 7-10 minute walk to the student centre.

People should probably consult a map of UCD (available somewhere on www.ucd.ie).

    try http://www.ucd.ie/maps/campusmap05.jpg it's building number 42.
    you can't miss it

The mailing list will provide you with most of the current info for Magic:TG in ireland. I'm pretty sure someone here will be able to give you the link to join up if you're interested.
