Really explicit film for sale in Zhivago

Now, firstly this movie I'm talking about is marketed as a "Thriller", its not a porno movie, nor does it look like one by any stretch.

I got it in Zhivago, watched it last night.

I mean...eh? Its made by Canal +, has the Universal logo on it, so it looks like a normal run of the mill action/sex/thriller.

Except it has hardcore sex scenes. I don't mean softcore crap, it has the lot. No holds barred, explicit sex scenes akin to something from a hardcore tape. Blowjobs, penetration, etc

My question....how an earth is this for mainstream sale in the movie section of Zhivago?? Why an earth is the universal logo on it??? Do Canal + and Universal release Pornos now???

    It's called Base Moi.

12.99 in Zhivago. Looks like a normal action/thriller really, with alot of nudity....but oh no, it goes WAY beyond the realm of simple nudity....

I just don't get how its released by two big film companies and for sale with other normal movies to be honest..

    It's called Base Moi.
Baise-moi Banned in a few countries, apparently.

The title 'Baise-moi' means 'Rape Me' or 'F*ck Me'

Baise Moi is not certified for release in this country by the Film Censor, so it's obviously being sold here by mistake. Are Zhivago part of an international chain?
It's actually illegal to sell an uncertified film on DVD/video in Ireland as far as I am aware.

I saw the film in the IFC (which can show uncertified films as it is a "film club" rather than a normal cinema) a couple of years ago, and frankly, it's not very good, just controversial for the sake of it.

Heh, I'd never heard of the film but when I read 'Baise Moi' I thought to myself 'well what did you expect'? My brain had somehow automatically read it as what it meant in English without me conciously realising it. I need some medicene!

BTW is it softer/harder than Intimacy?

Significantly harder. The erections were a bit limp in Intimacy, and there was no penetration shown. As for the infamous "blow-job scene", well she just gave it a little lick really.
Baise Moi is very explicit, I seem to recall reading at the time of its release that most of the (main) cast were porn actors, which would explain the poor acting in the non sex scenes.

Aye, the film shouldn't have been for sale (not, I'm sure, that you'll report it). They have been a bit more lenient of late though - "9 Songs" is the obvious example, but "Inside Deep Throat" got a cert. here too and it does feature a clip from the movie of that scene that made it famous.

FWIW, it got a Cert. in the UK and is on play.com here for £5.99.

But it seems it's a case of controversy over quality (ain't seen it myself). And no, technically you're not allowed the movie in Ireland but I wonder if they'd stop you..

How does 9 Songs compare to Baise Moi?

I mean I heard 9 Songs was explicit, but assumed it was just explicit as movies go in general - but seeing this has really made me think - is 9 Songs in the same league?

Baise Moi, I was expecting an uber violent thriller with sex scenes, not an uber explicit porn film with random and poor intervals of hilariously bad "action"

Watched this on Sky Movies one night.
Terrible film, sets out to shock but it's just crap. Turned it off after a little while, if I had wanted to watch porn I'd have watched a porno.

Zhivago do this quite a bit (selling movies not certified for release here), I remember seeing showgirls on sale in there years ago when it was still banned here.
