To the Mods: I opened this thread as the other thread had gotten messy and this can be more organized. Thanks!

Let's get serious about this then guys. I see the following as working best:

    Entrance Fee
€10 per head - should easily pay for all table use and a decent prize fund.

Amount of Competitors / Tournament Structure
If possible 16 would be perfect, in a series of "best of 3" matches with perhaps "best of 5" in the final.

    Rules
These can be debated prior to the actual tournment.

    Venue
The consensus seems to be either The Edge or The Palace - personally I'd lean towards The Palace but a poll can be made.

    Date / Time
Weekend's would probably suit people best so perhaps a Saturday afternoon? I'm sure we can pre-book tables and there is then ample time for socialising afterwards! :) I'd propose Saturday, 6th of August as the inaugral date!

Alternatively, we could look into doing it on a weekday night and perhaps finding a smaller pool hall and booking the entire place for a few hours - although this could perhaps require an increased entrance fee although everyone would get a lot more pool!

    Time
Any chance another weekend or weekday could be decided on as this is the only weekend that I can't go, have something else on this weekend.

    Venue
I would go with the Edge in rathmines because I rather the normal 7*4 tables compared to regular 9 ball tables. The Palace is good as well but I think it would be better with normal tables.

    Prize Money
E10 sounds good to me, worst case senario price fund would be on your competitin format would be:
    Round 1 E1.5 * 3 games * 8 matches = E36
    Quarter Final E1.5 * 3 games * 4 matches = E18
    Semi Final E1.5 * 3 games * 2 matches = E9
    Final E1.5 * 5 games * 1 match = E7.5
Total = E70.5, which would leave E90 for prize money, say E60 for winner and E30 for beaten finalist.

The other way that you could do it is have the same entrance fee but the loser of each round has to pay for the games. This would give more price money, say E90 for 1st, 40 for 2nd and E15 for 3rd and 4th.

    Rules
I would go with the world 8 ball rules and perhaps take out the rule about having to hit a cushion after each shot, would perhaps annoy alot of people as it can be very difficult to get used to.

    That's sounds good.

That would be best, although I personally doubt we'll get 16.

    I like digiman's idea.

My vote is for The Palace.

That date is fine by me, although if it's a problem for digiman, then i'm sure it can be changed.

I may know a good place for the above.

Also, is it just 8-ball we're playing? I would have preferred snooker. I don't mind though. :)

A come on guys this thread has died...and it was going so great! Is the Edge cheaper than the Palace? Palace is 12 euro per hour - at least that's at night anyway, it may be cheaper during the day? I'd also be up for this, I vote we go with Digiman's idea, having to hit the cushion would be an annoying rule, especially for beginners.

Whipped together a webpage quickly - can be viewed here: http://members.boards.ie/pool/

Please PM me if you can DEFINITELY attend. I will be ringing the Edge to arrange tables and such.

Basic info is currently: The Edge. Sunday 7th (this Sunday!!) @ 2PM. €10 to enter. More likely 8 competitors (if we can get them!).

Ok lads as I said earlier I can't attend this weekend as I have to go back to Donegal, if you do not get enough maybe try for the weekend after, I should definitely be able to go that weekend!! Good luck with it on Saturday anyway!!

Well seens as we are fairly desperate to make even 8 players, we can probably postpone for a weekend.. yes?

Yeh I suppose that would be best. Sunday the 14th then? I think digiman should pay all our entrance fees though, for being such a nuisance - people and their lives...
