    Hi Lads (and Lassies)

Is anyone heading into the Fitzwilliam tonight for the game? How many tables are there usually and how much are the buy ins? Hoping to get some cash for the big weekend next weekend

I should play in tonights tournie, unless my social life intervenes. The Fitz will probably be fairly full tonight, many cash games by midnight.

    Hey Smurph,

It's the scalps game on Friday so it's a €50 (incl €5 reg) plus €10 for scalp (you start with 2000 chips plus 20% on time bonus) plus 1 rebuy or top-up for €50 (3500 chips I think). Normally gets between 6 and 7 tables. Last week it finished at 4 in the morning. Winner got ~ €2200 (including festival credit), I got €1150 for 2nd, Lenny Leonard got ~€700 for 3rd when his Aces got done.

It's a good game and a bit of craic.

I'll be heading in and trying to go one better :D

    Olly.

Any of you guys know if the Merrion still has the novice poker nights on during the week? Do you have to be a member?

I'm hopeing to play tonight. Haven't played it in a few weeks. Think it's still my favourite tourny and I seem to be back on some kind of form with my win in the mayfair. Hopefully there'll be plenty in tonight to bump up the prize fund for me:P see ya's later

That would be the Monday freeroll.
Yes, you do have to be a member. You can become a member on the night as long as you bring photo ID with you.

Yep, great game last week, and the best thing was that there was absolutely no mention of a deal. Fought out to the bitter end!

Don't forget to come over and say hi. I seem to be the only gobsh*t who uses my nickname on Boards, so easy to find me hovering around the Cash games after yet another boring bad beat story from the Tournaments.

    Hey Smurph,

I was the guy who knocked you out last week... AA first, then AK a few hands later. Felt kinda guilty about it, but them's the breaks, I suppose!

No problem, I had one of those hands where I Just could not get away from the Flop. Glad you did well, I forgot that it was Friday last when I was in the Fitz. Jesus thats bad. I was in there on Tuesday night for the €55 euro double chance and really enjoyed the game. 6 Tables and some good play at it. The first table i was at was a laugh, with some serious contenders at it. Christy (tanned guy with goatie beard), Paddy Hicks, to mention but a few. Great fun though and people actually having fun. Adam was dealing and turned up some amazing flops. The general rule was 22 go all in. Worked very well too. We actually had fun at the table. Sometimes when I read the posts on Boards I have to say I feel just saying relax and try and remember it is supposed to be a Social night out (as well as winning as much as possible). You see people in the club over analysing every hand, and always telling a bad beat story. But they seem to forget that no one is (A) interested or (B) gives a **** and will forget the Bad Beat story in an instant. I think we should all learn from the likes of Paddy Hicks. He remains always the gentleman at the table, and if he is badly outdrawn, gets up and leaves the table with a smile on his face. He doesn't do any of this mumbling, and leaving with the "chewed up toffee face" look just cause he lost. I also note that people have started to fling chips into the middle (probably saw it on telly or something) without any respect for the dealer. I firmly believe that people are being less and less respectful to the dealers, especially over the last couple of months. If anyone has dealt in the freerolls they should understand this is a difficult enough job to keep control of the table and we should leave them to do their job. Anyway must get off the pedestal and stop ranting. See you all later.

    nice post smurph.
there is a lot to be learned from Mr. Hick's behaviour and those that cannot learn intuitively will be taught the old fashioned wayif they they have the misfortune to end up at my table.

    good luck lady, d.
    see u next week
