Is this a DVD writer or just the DVD's you are talking about?
a link to the reference might help too

it means the dvd writer can burn onto both DVD -R and DVD +R. The format is -R and +R... Just two different types of dvd's.

BTW DVD -R is what you need

Not all DVD players are -R. you might want to check your own DVD player to see if it is +R or -R. if its new enough it will probably support both.

dvd -r movies work fine on the majority of dvd players

Why? If you have to pick one, DVD+R is still superior

Fortunately, pretty much all new writers are dual format so that makes life easier for most of us :)

    Thats not true at all.

I have recorded many films on +R's for many different types of DVD players.

the best way to make dvd r+ readable on every dvd player is to burn the disc as a dvd rom this is called bitsetting ,

They have it on dell's outlet center.

They specify CDRW, but when you check the specs - it says DVD+/-RW (Multiformat)
