i got my tounge pierced when i was 17.i was given the usual tips...dont eat...dont drink...dip your tounge in salt water every half an hour...etc.... however NONE of them worked and my tounge swelled to twice its size and the bar popped out.

i am not allergic to silver so im assuming i did somethiong wrong.i had to take it out of course, however i wana get it done again so if u guys have any tips THAT WORK on the care and swelling-avoiding of my tounge it would be gr8...HUGS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

er...didn't you already make a thread on this???
anyway...if you were given advice to soak it in salt solution every half hour, not to eat and not to drink, it's obvious you went to someone who knows ****!
So first things first...get yourself a decent piercer.I fyou find a good piercer they'll give you good advice...where are you from??
I'm not surprised your tongue swelled so much, if you were dipping it in salt water every half hour, that would aggrivate the **** out of it...

best bet is, get it done by a professional, afterwards eat ice for the first couple of hours if you can, it will reduce swelling, if you can keep it up for a day or so do...don't drink alcohol or smoke for at least 24 hours after getting it pierced,no oral sex, RINSE OUT your mouth 2-3 times a day, twice is probably best, don't want to aggrivate it too musch...I f you want get a MILD mouthwash, but don't wask out your mouth with it, you'll have to dilute it first...swelling should go down within 3-5 days...

you can eat, I was eating solids straight away, it just takes a bit of getting used to, it feels like you'll bite down on the bar, but you have to get used to it somehow...if you want cut food really small or else have a soup diet for the first couple of day...

but seriously...don't go to anyone, telling you not to eat and to dip your tongue into salt soution every 30 minutes, it's crazy...
