I won a great flight awhile back (anywhere in europe), and I was thinking of using to go to Milan, anyone any suggestions on where in Milan is good (best area to stay in etc.)

Or is there somewhere else I should be thinking of going??

    Cheers,

    Zalt

First of all, you're a lucky bastid! biggrin.gif

Secondly, i've heard nothing but bad things about Milan. My brother phoned from there about two weeks and he said he was hating it. He left after a day or two. I think you'd probably be better off going elsewhere. Other people i know who've been there haven't really had anything good to say about it either.

With 'anywhere in Europe' to chose from Milan would be faaaaarrrrr down the list for me.

Try Prague, beautiful city and very reasonable too.

When you go in for a job interview, I think a good thing to ask is if they ever press charges.

On the basis that it's free don't go to Prague, you can get flights from London to Prague for cheap enough (with Go) so go somewhere more obscure

Then when you get back go to Prague biggrin.gif

First off, I've already been to Prague, so I don't want to go back (not that I wouldn't go back - just I don't want to use my freebie, cos you can get there pretty damn cheap if you hunt a bit.)

My second problem is - the girlfriend fancies Italy, but not Rome!! (Damned awkward, but 'she who must be obeyed' and all that. . )

Now I've been put off Milan, (thanks guys confused.gif ) I'm begining to think along the more obscure, like Gothenburg or somewhere ..

    Cheers,

    Zalt

    Amsterdam or Stockholm

Zaltais: if you're gonna go to Italy, try to go to Lake Garda. It's quite near Verona and not too far from Venice and Milan and it's possibly the most beautiful place in the world (seriously). smile.gif

Spent two weeks there last August.. absolute heaven..

I've already been to Lake Garda, and Venice, and androphobic is right it is definately one of the most beautiful places in the world, but I was looking for a different side of Italy, without going to Rome, hence Milan, but I might look into Verona as a viable alternative.

Amsterdam might be a good one that I hadn't really considered, but cos Amsterdam is so cheap to get to anyway I might leave that till some other time. biggrin.gif

Hmmmm a friend of mine has just come back from Finland raving about the place. Its not cheap to go out but he says its well worth it. I'm adding it to my list of destinations to go to in the next 6-12 months.

    Gandalf.

Finland is worth it just for the extreme bizarreness of the people. Oddest lot ive ever come across. They are really friendly tho and its an amazing place.

Copenhagen is good, and it's about the same price as Ireland to go out. It's the home of Carlesberg too. Loads of beer and sausages. You can try things that you can't try in Ireland but can in Amsterdam. If your that way inclined (and I'm not talking about ladies of the night in case you're wondering).
