    I've a Toshiba-Samsung drive in my 1.6a
I'm after buying a Pioneer DVR-109XLB for my PC.
I'm about to order media so I can burn discs (home movies etc.) that can be read in both stand-alone DVD players and my Xbox.

I was thinking of just getting about 50 Verbatim +R and -R and testing them out, but I want to pick up some cheaper media for general 'throwaway' use.

    Recommendations please.
If you wish to state that X media works with X drive, please provide at least one link to an article (not a bulletin post by some gimp from Florida with the mental age of a 9-year old).

If this works, I'd like to put together a definitivie media-drive guide.

Also, could someone confirm or deny whether the Toshiba-Samsung drive is identical to the 'standard' samsung, or whether it's a new/updated model. I can't find any info on it online.

I haven't had a single problem with Ritek G04 dye discs (DVD-R), on two different Xboxes (one with modship and other changes, one completely untouched). They're pretty cheap online (like http://www.svp.co.uk or http://www.ritek.ie)

    We'll see when it arrives.

I've had good success with these memorex DVD+R, they're 8xspeed as well and cheap:

Seem to work with every drive I've tested but I'll confirm that in a few days. I dont know the difference between the samsung and tosh-samsung drives, I'm assuming not much

the new samsung drive, sucks in compariosn to the older, excellent one, it wont read data discs (ie. movies .avi) and has major difficultties with most brands of cd's. best xbox drive is the old samsung, no doubt.

Aye Ritek G04 are the best media never had a problem although i have the old Samsung drive which seems to read everything i throw at it. but they work on thomson and philips drives also burning at low speeds seems to help with troublesome drives
