Crimping a home cinema speaker set

I picked up a Divx player from Aldi this morning and noticed that it has RCA connectors on the back for the surround speakers/woofer. I was wondering if anyone knows how to go about getting my existing home cinema speakers crimped with an RCA connector (as they are of the 'pinch' connector type).

Not really a great idea as thats not what the outputs on the divx player are designed for. The player has a built in decorder for outputting the surround sound to an amplifier. Its the same as using a Digital coax or optical just that the decoding is done in the divx player instead of the amp. If you plug the speakers directly into the divx player you wont have control over volume or levels of speakers.

Is there not an input on your existing home cinema system to hook the divx player to?

Thanks Ste. Yes. I twigged that last night but didn't see anything on the back of the existing kit. Guess I'll survive for a while before saving up enough for the necessary piece of kit.

Sorry for hijacking the thread :( but I was wondering if someone could suggest a decent (ie cheap) amp for connecting the dvd player 5.1 rca outputs to the 6 speakers.
I bought the same dvd player btw :)

    "decent (ie cheap)".
Sorry but Decent is not the same as cheap.
Anyway, if you go back to aldi, you can get this.

    if you hurry.

Bugger, that item is gone from the website. What is (was!) it anyway?

    For a 'decent' amp
    - stay away from Curries/dixons/Powercity!
    - Expect to pay 200 euro and up
    - Yamaha, Pioneer, Denon, Marantz are all good brands (there are many more)
    - It's normally called an 'AV receiver' because most have an integrated tuner.

Seriously consider 2nd hand, great bargains can be had as people who are into this stuff rush to buy the latest model.
