as always ive got a silly little question, every now and again when i put a CD into my laptop and copy files from it i get an error message saying "cyclic redundancy check"

most of the time when i take out the CD and put it back in again (without doing anything else) i can then copy the files

so anyway what is a "cyclic redundancy check" error and how can i get rid of the mofo?

    thanks guys

Maybe the laser on your drive is dusty, get a cd lens cleaner. might help

I had that problem before as well. I did a bit of googling on it and one of the causes can be buring a lot of information at too high a speed. Try reducing to 12x or 14x.
