Any of you lads know of any downloadable Poker games around, realistic ones - good for learning etc when playing online and also playing in the flesh?

Practice makes perfect - well maybe not in Poker!

    cheers

Emprix, all of the poker sites have 'play money' tables so you can learn how the game works there.

After you have got the hang of how the software operates, you are probably better lodging €20 or so, and play some $.50 STT's, as the play money game is just people throwing all their chips in so you won't learn very on how toplay the game there. At least at the $.50 level, you are probably meeting players in the same boat as yourself, just starting out, trying to learn.
Worst case scenario is you lose your €20 on 40 or so games, thinking of it as a training fee.

The best money you can spend is buy a couple of poker books as well, and shorthen your learning curve as much as you can.

Problem is play money tables are fine if you are unfamiliar with the game but for actual practice it's a waste of time. Maybe Stacked, new game coming soon, will turn out to be good. Who knows.

Yeah that's true. But to get the basics of the game, hand ranking, betting frequency etc. down it's useful.
