Go into the bios when the pc is booting up. Dell bios is very user friendly, you'll find a hyperthreading option there. set it off.

It'll say on the screen which button you need to press to get into it...

    You know, something like this:

"Press F12 to enter BIOS". pretty straightforward

What model number is the dell ? Theres usually a very thorough guide to every option in the BIOS on their support site, as far as I know

I had to do this to enable VirtualDJ to run properly (until they patched it).
The HT supposedly gets "confused" when running multiple mp3s (doesn't really make sense I know)...turning it off solved the problem.

Like others have said, it should be in the BIOS; it was on my dell...look harder.
