Im not new to this but not a expert and i have never had a problem with opening ports before.
yesterday i set up a wireless router (LinksysWRT54G) so i could share a DSL connection i have on my PC with my laptop, everything works ok i have the wireless on my laptop perfect all of that but in every filesharing program i try i have NAT problems.
I have my windows firewall off
I have config my mcafee firewall correct
I have The ports forwarded on the router and the modem
but still if i run something to see what ports i have opened it tells me all of my ports are blocked Mad
Can anyone help me out because iv tried everything and still no joy i never had this problem before i set up the router so it must be something to do with that.

Hope someone can help me out lads cheers.

I've this router at home, so might help you. I've managed to configure BT and eMule on it although had to experiment with port forwarding a bit. What program are you having difficulty with?

Forget about static IP's, any decent router will assign the same IP to a network card every time it requests one.

Find out the IP of the machine you need to run a certain program on (Emule for example).
Start > Run > type "ipconfig"
Find out what port the program requires to be open (forwarded).
Open the routers configurations and forward that port to the IP address of the computer running the program.

Try to set up the WAN interface of the router with a static IP in the modems LAN subnet, and enable port-forwarding to it on the modem. Then give the pc a static IP in the routers internal subnet and port-forward to it also. You may have tried this already but if not, its worth a try.

That's right, on my downloading machine I've a static IP address (.10), changed the DHCP range on the router to start from a higher number and then added two ports for eMule via Single Port Forwarding:
app	external	internal	protocol	ip enabled
    	port port
    emule	4662 4662 TCP 192.168.1.10	x
    emule	4672 4672 UDP 192.168.1.10	x

    BT via Range Port Forwarding:
app	start	end	tcp/udp ip enabled
    btdownl	7000	7010	Both 192.168.1.10	x
