Laptop Battery... in or out?

I got a new Acer Aspite 5021 about two weeks ago.

I will be using it at home about 90% of the time.. it wil be out and about with me about twice a month or so.

I use the laptop all day... for about 10 to 12 hours a day. It is plugged into the mains all the time when at home.

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to take the battery out of the laptop when I'm using it at home? Would this be better for the battery than leving it in and charging all the time?

Any ideas or other suggestions welcome.

leave it out if its plugged in.

i ruined my battery by not doing that.

Yes, I've read that the best thing to do if it's going to be plugged in all the time is to remove the battery and just use the power adapter. Just plug the battery in occassionally, run it down and recharge it.

If you leave the battery in constantly while plugged into the mains, there's a constant power flow running through the battery which would wear it down sooner.

    It is what it's.

By the way, does the battery for that model also have the corner that the laptop needs t be level? Taking out my battery means there's no 'foot' on one corner.

    It is what it's.

    Thanks guys... battery out.

Yes, the battery has one of the laptop feet. Bad design that. Laptop is not too unsteady tho... what did you do oneweb?

So it's pretty safe to use no battery in and just run it from the mains? I have the Gericom laptop I got from Aldi

Perfectly safe to do so yes. To rectify the foot problem you could buy a piece of rubber the same saize as the other feet and adhere it to the base of the laptop making sure it isn't blocking anything important.
