When putting the center serving onto a string, should the string have twists in it? Also, The Beiter site has a method of closing the serving but not starting it, is it okay to start it the same way?

i thick it's necessary to have some twists in the string when putting seerving on.... to be honest can't remember how to start, it been so long!!! We had a class last year about equipment, and that one the things i forgot!

After you make the string put it on the bow any leave it for a while, this will allow it to strech a bit. Then twist the string until you get the correct bracing height, then put on the centre serving.

Agreed, leave it for 24 hours, although fastflight shouldnt stretch much. I used to make my own strings, but I have got lazy, I find the 18strand FF strings on the altservices website do me fine.

    Thanks

Fixing up the club strings for the newbies coming in - funds are tight, can't afford new ones for all the bows! ;)

not a bad idea...... presuming we will need to do likewise come september, not quite sure of any thing yet, hopefully if get enough people we will have a need for more bows, more the merrier.......!!!

I'm not quite sure if our equipment officer is equiped enough though.......

Is is that difficiult to get into the habit of teaching people, traing them in, a couple of us in DIT are next in line to train the newbies......

    Any body got hints?? Help?

We figured out that the absolute fear of a newbie loosing an arrow into another newbie LOTR style usually means we don't have the time to train ourselves. Ya gota have a newbie training day and an experienced shooter (the uber-shooters) training day.

Nets are an ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL! Its amazing how they can miss the target at 5-7 meters and even more amazing how the arrow finds a way to hit the wall, break, and send its point and nock back towards the face of an uber-shooter!
