I have a Toshiba, Sattelite pro series, laptop. It has the centrino wireless moblie technology etc.... running XP Prof.... its about a year old.

My question is... should I have bluetooth capabilities???

I ask, because It is all over the help file... ie how to set up a bluetooth phone etc etc... and tells me to go to 'bluetooth devices' in the control panal. But its just not there. I can find and work the infrared functionality... but no sign of bluetooth.

I dont know is there some setup I need to do, or is it just not there. Does this mean I have to get a dongle... or is there some way of installing it?

Sometimes there's a button to enable Bluetooth somewhere around the side/front of the laptop. My laptop has one but it doesn't actually have the Bluetooth receiver - you might need to get one seperately.

    You could try eBay - example - ~€20 for a 100m (class1) dongle.

    It is what it's.

well there is a receiver at the front of the laptop... it doesnt say anything about bluetooth.. but is the same receiver that is used for my wireless connections.. and it IR connection, so if I did have bluetooth... I would assume this would be the receiver as well?

even if its not turned on, I would still get the options in Control Panel as well.... shouldn't I?

I'll check my manual and CD's later on.... maybe its there somewhere...

Wireless, IR and Bluetooth are 3 different connections and as such need 3 different receivers.

    It is what it's.

well the wireless and IR are in one in mine.. well one block... there could very well be two receivers hidden under the one block... with the one on/off switch...
