NAT'ed DSL

    (i've already mentioned somthing about this on the unix board)

    This might be of interest to anyone on a dsl connection with a network and a spare pc.

    I managed to set up a freebsd machine as a gateway to my eircom dsl connection after following this guide: http://nix.cable.nu/adsl.htm

    It's sort of specific to freebsd but the principle is the same no matter what OS you have. The point is, it works smile.gif, I now have the connection shared to the 2 other pc's in the house. Of course the router itself isn't very secure at all, the next step is a firewall of some sort.

    Why not just use the firewall that comes with freebsd, ipfw? simple to get going, simple to write rules for and all in all a very decent firewall..
