Recently i was thinking up learning how to play drums as i love playing music and i want to know how to play as many instruments as possible(i currently play guitar and bass). The only problem being the cost of seting up a nice kit,
I was thinking of getting a Sonor FSH5255-CBB Stage Set and a zildjian zbt cymbol set, Anoyone have any experiance with this kit, Ive allready heard the cymbols and i think there good value for the money but i was also thinking about the paiste 502 cymbol set never heard theese but all the paistes ive heard so far have sounded good.I play metal by the way if it helps.

Consider also the route of second hand Pearl Export, the introduction to drums for countless stick battererers.

pearl export kits are the best beginner kits imo...they are well made at a good price...maybe try goin to a reheasal studio with a ****e kit there and bring a few cymbals and bash away just to see if you would take to it!!!

My brother has Pearl Exports at the moment and he's quite happy with them. I say go with them.

ZBT's are about £200 and are fine for starting of. If you stick with the drumming they will do you a year or two no problem. if you find they it isnt for you you can sell them to someone who is looking to upgrade from the basic kit.

    Conor.

I think it's a bit needless for someone not sure if they want to do it.

Go out and buy the cheapest stuff you can, no point spending €500+ on an export and cymbals, if you end up not liking it.

Have a look at thomann.de, you'll be able to get a decent beginners kit for less than a 2nd hand export.

Yeah if you aint so sure about drumming, you can pick up a fairly standard second hand kit w/cymbals.
But beware, drums are the best instrument in the world!!!

Check out drum link in my sig for a drumming forum in ireland. There's second hand gear floating around there all the time!

    :)
Hey this is Timmy here. Id say go with the Zildjian ZBT because zildjian just brought out a new line of them and I got a new crash from them and the sound is unbelievable and its worth the price for the hats and ride alone. (you should know that from playing them). About the kit Id say get the pearl export because well export are a ver good kit for the price you pay and WITH PROPER HEADS AND TUNINGS can sound studio quality easily.

Plus, a second hand Export doesn't really depreciate from what you paid for it, so you don't lose out :)

Good sound advice Doctor J. You can pick up a set of exports for fairly handy money. They are a good beginner/intermediate player's choice. ZBT are fine starter sets, if your hung up on em, go for the ZBT+ range, they feature a better hammering technique, which makes them alot more musical than their unhammered/cheaper contemporaries. Check out the Paiste Alpha range too:- excellent range for the price. And above all, stick with the instrument, it takes a long time to master but the rewards are exceptional ;)

I got my drumkit 2 days ago and I'm loving it. I got a Pearl Rhythm Traveller from Thomann. The lightweight kit and silent practice are a must for me because I live at home and my parents reaction when they found out I had bought a drum kit  heheh... they thought my guitar amp was loud. :D
Also my room is tiny, the kit takes up all the floor space. Oh well when I decide I want something I just have to get it and I really want to learn drums.

Is that kit completely silent NotMe?Is there any sound? If not it kinda sucks cos you don't know what you are playing

Well it has mesh heads ... not completely silent but very low. It has proper heads aswell for loud playing.
