international drivers licence??

Hi,
Does anyone know if I need an international drivers licence for renting a car in the states for a couple of weeks while on holiday??

Had a look on google first and couldn't find anything!
Mustn't have looked properly!!

Thats your problem right there, you need to be checking goodle, much better (cough... )

Depends on which Sate you are going to , I know in Massachuttess an Irish License is fine but that may not be the case elsewhere

Its exactly what it says on the tin a driving license thats accepted Internationally.....

Just back from Boston myself, no problem using an Irish license to rent a car. Have used my license to rent cars from several rental companies in both Boston and NY without every requiring an international license.
