No limits Internet access!

I'm not sure if there is a topic which covers this here or not so I just started a new one.

I am trying to find out if any of the no-limits internet connections are still on offer. I heard a lot of shít about Eircell and Esat dumping their so called "over-users" off the system and am wondering if this has put an end to these accounts.

I am trying to sign up my parents home connection as my sister and her cousin have just managed to run up a £160 bill for two months.(all off peak)

At present I have a normal Eircom landline which is exclusively used for off-peak dial-up.

Any pointers in the direction of a no-limits service or a set rate service with a decent usage ceiling would be greatly appreciated.

I wish i had of known about the 75h deal when i got kicked of SNL, my last monthly bill just for the net was £180 :/
also i was talking to chorus about 2 months ago and they told me powernet would be avaible here (wexford) in october.

    Thanks.

(And I meant Eircom ... It's easy to mix one pack of f*cking backward dinosaurs up with another)

Telecommunications in this country is in some backward state if they can't provide reasonable low cost access let alone ADSL / Cable based technologies.

BTW, I assume that the 75 hr limit is per month. Even low/medium users would approach or pass that.

Dont hold your breath. I've been waiting patiently for them to open the Cork quadrant so I can hopefully get a piece of that wireless tomfoolery. If by miracle the cork quad is operational by the end of this year you will be waiting at least another 12 months before they bother farting around setting up another load of transmitters. Then again I could be wrong, but look at their past and current performance.

As far as I'm aware there the only flat-rate access service there is is NTL offering one for the whole weekend. Just the weekend, mind.

(Eircell are mobile phone provider, not a landline, by the way)

Esat did kick a few users off, I was one of them, but I called them and said I'd stick to their 75 hour limit or something, and a few other users did too, but I don't know who's obeying that or not. The important thing is, they are not taking any new users for the service, so you're stuck with dial-up like the rest of us. I think your best bet is waiting for Chorus, depending on your location anyway. Apparently they'll be offering powernet in a few months here, hurrah!

Chorus will do nothign while the future of hte company is in douth,

Anto *may be force to close it down*
he been looking for months for someone to buy the bloody thing and no one wants it, the debt are to high, and if hes forced to sell (cause hes buying eircon then he may be forced to just close up shop. that would be a real kick in the head for the country.

weather or not this happens i dont know, but as long as its hovering over the company, there will be little investment

Yeah, very much forced patience ... but look at the positive side: they started to answer my emails ... with the promise to contact whenever the fabled Cork quadrant is opened! For MultiChannel/Chorus thats an almost unheard of level of service <grin>, although in fairness I must admit they offered compensation when the cable sig was gone for a bank holiday weekend.

Most likely Sir Anthony will be forced to divest of his holding in the company.
