Recently I have noticed a bubble that pops up now and again saying memory full. I deleted lots of junk and games but the bubble is still coming up. Dose anyone know what is happening there?
    Thank you Lou xx

How much RAM do you have?
Are you sure it's a windows error message and not a virus? Windows has a tendency to not do "bubbles".
Take a screenshot of the error message too. (press Print screen and then paste into Paint)

I am guessing that xp is telling you that virtual memory is full, this has nothing to do with the space on the hard drive, so deleting files makes no difference, unless the hard drive is 100% full :D , try increasing the paging file size.

To Change the Size of the Virtual Memory Paging File
You must be logged on as an administrator
Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
Click the Advanced tab, and then click Settings under Performance.
Click the Advanced tab, and then click Change under Virtual memory.
Under Drive [Volume Label], click the drive that contains the paging file you want to change.
Under Paging file size for selected drive, click Custom size, type a new paging file size in megabytes (MB) in the Initial size (MB) or Maximum size (MB) box, and then click Set.
If you decrease the size of either the initial or maximum paging file settings, you must restart your computer to see the effects of those changes. When you increase the paging file size, you typically do not need to restart your computer.

To have Windows choose the best paging file size, click System managed size. The recommended minimum size is equivalent to 1.5 times the amount of RAM on your system, and 3 times that figure for the maximum size. Example, if you have 256 MB of RAM, the minimum size would be 384, the maximum size would be 1152.

For the drive there is usually only one, C:, unless you're system has more than one drive.

If you are running a very old application it could be one of about 7 areas that are full, but that a windows forum discussion.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but isn't it better to set minimum and maximum to the same size?

The minimum defines the smallest allowable space used for the paging file and the maximum sets a limit to prevent windows from using up too much of the hard drive space and/or to prevent performance lags.

if you were to define max/min as the same and windows used up the paging file, e.g in a game or other large program then you would end up with the same virtual memory problem again.

I dont know what level your computer experience is at but the bubble sound like "a low disk space" warning.

This may sound stupid to most but empty your recycle bin and make sure there is a lot of free space in any other attached drives.

I'll upload a reg file if you want to turn off that warning if what I have said above works.
    ========================================================
Unzip and double click on the:
    Low Disk Space Warning.reg
file click OK to the 2 prompts.

You may not know what a reg file is but believe me it will not hurt your computer and is not a virus!

Lou* probably because new machines come installed with a lot of worthless programs :) also try uninstalling some programs you dont use very much. If you use the internet alot the cache can get clogged up in there and make it hard for your computer, try clearing that also in Control Panel->Internet Options.
