Anyone know how long it should take for DNS changes to tick over? I had my DNS servers changed about 2 days ago and it's working fine from IOL but here in work (Esat leased line) the changes haven't been made and the url is still pointing at the old IP. Do leased lines usually take longer to roll over?

Esat Business use different DNS servers, and they might have different settings. 48 hours is a bit much alright, but I think there's a problem with some DNS servers in Ireland, as I have an A record in one of my zone files that steadfastly refuses to change (it's been going on for months now). It's when I'm connected to Oceanfree I have the problem, which is also an Esat company, so maybe there's a screw-up in Esat in general.

when you changed you dns with your registrar they would have said it can take anything from 24 to 72 hours for the changes to become available around the world.

Can take longer actually, it depends on the TTL (Time To Live) set in the zone file, and also on the DSN server.

I've seen DNS changes taking up to a week to propogate fully world-wide, and would allow that much time for it and not yell bloody murder at anyone over it until then wink.gif

It is the way of things...

You actually changed DNS servers ?
i.e. did Esat once run your DNS and now someone else has it ?
If that is the case, Esat have to remove the domain from their servers for them to reflect
    the changes.

You can check this with either dig on a 'NIX box or with this web based utility.

Query the name servers (type: NS) for your domain against, ns.isi.net (esat) your new
DNS servers and whatever dns you use in work.

it's working now, took about three days. I just thought that it was a bit odd taking that long as it only took about 12 hours last time.
