This is an email reply my gf got from her boss, after telling him she no longer needs to go ahead with surgery and ready to start work.

    >Hi XXXXX,
    >
    >Great to hear you don't need surgery
    >
    >Just let me know when you're flying back and I presume you will be ready to
    >start on the 25th of July.
    >
    >However, we have a new Chinese IT specialist call Lucy, who is very good at
    >obeying instructions from the boss in that she comes in every day likea
    >good obedient Chinese girl in her office uniform and never gives me any
    >excuses about leaving her uniform at home!!!
    >
    >Accordingly, I presume you have some spare time now in China and maybe you
    >might get yourself two or three office suits and shoes for petite Chinese
    >girls like XXXX and I will refund you when you get back to Dublin and as
    >you know I am not giving you any money for trousers!!
    >
    >I know that you are very busy with the studies beforehand and really didn't
    >have time for shopping and I would imagine it's much easier to do your
    >shopping in China.
    >
    >I'm very serious now going forward in August and I must insist on a serious
    >image in that you will most likely be very involved with clients
    >
    >Let me know your plans,
    >
    >XXXXX

Is it just me or is this highly offensive, sexist and even a bit racist ???

I thought this was a joke at first but the gf says its for real :o !

I'd venture that he had a few jars on him when he wrote it.

I'd also venture it is a highly risky e-mail for an employer to send to an employee.

It actually plays into your girlfriend's hands in that she could pretty much use it against him if he ever messed her around.

Oooh, the temptation to reply in kind to that mail must be awful. That might be ok as a joke if it was sent to someone he knew very well or had been working there for years, otherwise it's more than a tad insulting. OTOH, if she feels like a few new pairs of Blahniks, she has confirmation that the boss will refund her...

If she knows the guy, then she knows if it's serious or not. If it is a serious mail, then she's used to it. If it's not serious, I'm sure she's realised.

Either way I don't think it's a good career move to post private messages on a public forum, anonymous or otherwise.

that's great an edge on the boss before she even starts, if your gf has any hassles with the boss just start waving that baby around and he'll be history. Make sure she keeps copies of it!
