How is hacking microsoft.com differnet to hacking an open source website?

Its like the G8 protestors who protest against globalisation and violence yet eat in mcdonalds, wear nike runners and violently attack the local Police.

Pay attention to what I said:
    1) I said cracking - not hacking ;)
    2) I condemned cracking an open-source website - but for some peculiar reason you seem to think that means I support cracking commercial websites

To answer your own question, ask yourself this:
How is robbing a bank different to robbing a charity shop?

I doubt Gates cares - Ballmer will be laughing though.
