How long have people recently had to wait for eircom to install hispeed? i ordered it nearly 5weeks ago now and still no sign from eircom about installing it. And i'm just wondering does the quality of ure existing phone line have an effect over the quality of the hispeed line? I have 2 phone lines atm 1 connects at 50k the other at 40k.

Dunno how long you will be waiting, neither do Eircom I would say :/

Your existing phone line quality is not relevant. You should get a solid 64k connect on ISDN using just one channel.

Your existing phone line quality may be important when waiting for ISDN. With hi-speed it is your existing phone line that is upgraded. If it is of poor quality, this might mean that Eircom have to actually fix the problem. If it is of good quality then it is a relativly trivial operation to upgrade.

Which line are you getting hi-speed on? The 40K one might be a bit borderline. BTW it took me about 6 weeks to get a brand new ISDN line put in. They told me it would take 6 weeks and it did.

I waited only two weeks. Eircom never gave me a time either.

BTW - according to the Tech who installed the stuff... it's the distance to your local exchange that matters re. overall quality. Thankfully, I'm only < 1 km from my local, even out in the "sticks".

i'm getting it installed on the 40k line, but i can probably get them to get rid of that line and upgrade the 50k line? the 50k is the 2nd line i got installed over a year ago just for the internet. I'll be keeping my two numbers either way so there shouldn't be any problem gettin the 50k line upgraded.

5 days from order to install last time. If you haven't heard anything since you ordered it, start ringing them every two days until they get sick of you and install it. Believe me this works smile.gif
