    Ok,

I've taken a PC from a friend, of a friend lets say... whose server basically wont start.

When powered on, the HARD DRIVE light stays on constantly with no errors beeps and doesn't even boot into the Bios.

I strippied it down to RAM and Processor, should it not boot into Bios like this?

So would I be safe to assume the motherboard is fried?

    Thanks
    Tom

Thats probably the reason, try different memory or a different processor, but if the motherboard was good it would at least beep.

Hmm... check that your PC speaker is connected. If it's a homebrew box with onboard audio, plug in some speakers/headphones too in case it's beeping/issueing synthesized speech error messages through that.

I assume if you've stripped it down to "just the RAM and the processor" that it's got on-board graphics? If so, I assume you've connected the monitor to see if it's initialising?

Last suggestion: if you've got another PSU, try that too in case...

something similar happened to me recently.. check to see if any on the pins on the processor are even slightly bent and if so then straighten them
