Nokia 3650 Format ?

Friend has a Nokia 3650 that seems to have become infected by a virus,just wondering if he does a format on the phone,Soft Format(*#7370#), will it sort the problem, understand all data will be lost, but does this also wipe the O/S of the phone and if so where and how do i reinstall the firmware.

When you say Virus, do you mean it locks up every now and then,
and when you try to restart it it hangs 2 out of three times ? :-)

That's the 3650 for you. Great phone, but not that stable.
Some firmware versions are better than others, but I've
never found opinions to agree enough to change firmware myself.

The soft format will help and won't delete the OS.
Weirdly enough, first time I did it, it didn't wipe my phonebook,
and I thought it hadn't worked. Don't rely on that though!

Another thing you can try is open the battery compartment, remove the MMC card, and reboot. If that boots up promptly, then the soft format
will almost definitely solve the problem.

PS. You can backup the contacts database, and some other bits and pieces to the MMC card, and copy them to a PC, that can save a lot of typing later.

Thanks for the reply, it is giveing the symtoms you stated and also will make a call but wont send a text, worked perfectly up to a few days ago.

But will get him to try your suggestions.
