say to a land line, and to a mobile phone.
and the cost at various times of the day?
yes, ive tried to find them, but if anyone knows offhand....?

    Eircoms call calculator:
    http://mmm.eircom.ie/AtHome/WhatProduct/calc.asp

12p a minute daytime to a british landline
27p a minute daytime to a british mobile

11p and 22p respectively at evenings.

If you're looking for the cheapest way to do it, buy a callcard from somewhere - they generally offer cheaper rates than eircom and it's prepaid so you don't have to worry about getting a big bill. I have family in England so I call there a lot - the one I use is 6p a minute to a landline any time of the day.

Speakeasy to UK 150p / minute. (yes ouch!!!)

Talkshop (or payphone via Talkshop) to UK 10p / minute.

Speakeasy to UK via netshop 37p / minute.

So /me uses Talkshop for UK calls. Account is set up to do a caller ID on my mobile - no inputting Account numbers and PINs. Only problems I have found is going to the shop for a top-up and you can't us speed-dial. Refusals much less common that Esat.

Beware of cards - you never get to use the last 10p.

Too many freaks, not enough circuses.

Victor, I've heard that you can topup your account over the phone and save walking to the shop. You can also send DTMF tones from your mobile if you want to use your speed dials.

Apparently UK is 7p per minute using a Locall access number too.

    regarding your calls comment,
I use Euphony and there rates are 12 cents/min peak and 10cents/min off and weekends, and they bill by the second.
this is on their Talknow service €10 euro free calls 24/7 at
www.euphony-talknow.ie they also do a great business service apparently :)

5c/min all day every day with www.talkxtra.ie. It has a 1800 access number. Customer service number on the back of my card is 1800 992 436 they could probably send you a card. You can top it up at the post office or over the phone with laser or credit card. I use it all the time to call Germany @ 5c/min.

Yup, I use them all the time .... have never had a problem with them. I'm in the UK now and calling Ireland is 2ppm all the time ... 15ppm to mobiles though.

holy moly .... using eircon to call a landline in the UK in the evening for 30 mins costs €4.33 (€3.73 at weekends)... rip off merchants

Just in case people don't realise 1890 numbers are the price of a local call. So telestunts 1890 943 123 number costs at the moment:

    Band Rate Price per minute*
    Local Daytime 4.92c
    Evening 1.26c
    Weekend 1.26c

(i.e. its not 1c all day, in case people thought it was)

I use telestunt.ie a lot and its great. Saved me a fair few quid. :D
