I want to segment a network into two by putting a router in between the two networks. It will shunt the traffic between the two networks and also onto the Internet router. I'm going to use 100Mb Fast Ethernet ports and I want to know should I get a 2600 or a 3600?

    Thanks

Personally, I'd go for the 2600 - I've never had a problem with them and think that they're fantastic devices. There's something in the back of my mind about a comparison done between a 2600 and 3600 series, there was some issue with the packet processing rate deteriorating on the 3600 under certain circumstances. But, maybe that's all fixed now.

Thanks, I think you just cost me my prize smile.gif

I went for a 2651 in the end. The 3640 with two fast ethernet modules was over £8000.
