Ok, these are the first pics i've ever really taken, and i hope you
photo(wo)men don't mind me taking advantage of technology to make them a little interesting, i haven't even read the manual to the camera yet so i'm just pointing and shooting.

First thing's first, can anyone tell me about some kinda programme where i can put boarders around these, they could do with them.

ALL THESE PICS WERE TAKEN IN MY HOUSE.

Ok, Here's the first one. It's actually a pic of me zoomed right in, i LOVE black and white photos and real old kinda grainy effect, i don't know why, i just do.

This is a pic of a bowl of glass pebble kinda things, again it's been tampered with just a little bit:)

    click

One last one, this was taken in my kitchen. It's actually a bit of hardware sticking out of a bass drum(don't ask why there's a bass drum in my kitchen:D).

This one is probably my favourite.

    Be gentle :o;)

I have opened up a deviant ard account but it's acting up on me at the moment so i used boards space.

    Thanks for looking.

I am giving you my honest opinion.

I think they are crap, they do nothing for me. I think for your starting photography, try stick to more standard photos, as opposed to experimental photography. Get a hang of the camera first. Then let yourself develp your style. I mean, just take snaps of flowers or wood-grain, etc.. if you like macro shots.

Cool, no problem. This is me getting a hang of the camera though, i just walked around my house taking pics of random things. I didn't do it to with the intention of messing with them on the PC, it just happened that way. I like em anyway, that's what matters to me.

    .

Photoshop filters are a big no no.
They ruin images and for some reason people seem to think running an image through 5 different filters makes a good picture. It doesn't.

    Take a few simple pictures.

Nothing that is over edited, Harsh. You want something that is easy on the eyes, but it doesn't have to be incredibly simple, it can be interesting at the same time. For instance, Take a picture of a Skyline, or a landscape picture. Then when you find yourself a bit more competent with the camera, you can try some Macro*/Experimental photography.

    Thanks..

    * I'm not sure, but can that camera have upgradeable lens attached?

tbh, i wouldn't be dicouraged. Im no photography pro, but i know that you are at least taking interesting photo's. Everyone starts off by taking photos of a skyline or a landscape, but your photos are at least of something interesting and a bit different. So definitely keep it up. I'd be of the reasoning, that higher resolution is generally better. For me, when i looked at your first photo, it was too grainy and not very appealing. As for the photoshop filtering, it's something that most people are guily of. It's usually better to tinkle with colour levels/contrast than to shoot it through a photoshop filter. As said, it looks good at first, but you'll see that almost everyone has tried it and it's noticable.

As for borders, you can do it in Photoshop. Go to canvas settings in "image" (i think), and mess around with it, adding 10-20 or so pixels to the top bottom and sides.

The best way to learn (and im in the same boat, a complete beginner) is to just mess around. I tried to read up on some things, but its really difficult to apply them a lot of the time, so just keep taking photos, until they are becoming what you like. And look around on Deviantart. There's great stuff there.

For beginner shots, there not perfect...but good...when beginning try to take images with a foreground,a middle and a background...your shot should be in the middle with something in front of and behind it....also, try and make your subject appear in one of the corner thirds of your photo...
When you look through the viewfinder, imagine that the image is divided into three horizontal and vertical sections, then use the rule of thirds to space your subject to the left or right of the image...
I think that your "eye of the tiger" shot is a nce attempt but a failed attempt (sorry)...this is a quote taken from a digital workshop...
Get close to your subject Pictures of individuals or objects that take a snap of the whole person tend to look rather static...Zoom in close to your subject- for instance, cropping into the head and shoulders of a person or using macro mode to photograph small, inanimate objects
    Hope i helped and also...
Photoshop filters are a big no no.

I think you are wrong here...If an image looks abit off and your looking for a certain effect, one photoshop filter may do the trick...Unfortunatly, his third image will only look good to him, because he knows what the original looks like.

Thanks for the replies. All is taken on board.

Just to make it clear though, i just walked around my house taken pics of random things, and just messed with them on the computer. Nothing is really serious.

The eye of the tiger pick was literally just me messin about, it was probably one of the very first pics i took to see how it would come out, in the end i just cropped it and turned it black and white, i didn't take it close up with the intention of posting it here, it just worked out like that in the end.

Thanks though, i wanna get some more picks taken. I'm afraid to bring the camera with me wherever i go, it's not exactly the lightest and i'm afraid i'll just break it.
