Aer Lingus and American Airlines

Was interested in flights to Boston for September and on the dates I had chosen the total came to €1127 with Aer Lingus and this included a stopover in Shannon. Thought this was way too expensive for September so I went a hunting.

If I was to buy return flights from American Airlines from Shannon for the same dates and buy flights from Aer Lingus to/from Shannon/Dublin then the price came to €916 - a saving of €211

How is that? expecially seeing as American Airlines and Aer Lingus are codeshare partners so more than likely you would be flying on Aer Lingus planes the whole journey!

Oh yeah prices are based on 2 passengers (total price)

Aer Lingus have a sale on at the moment. I got flights to Boston for €372 return inc all usual taxes.

American are flying the route themselves along with Dublin to Chicago. They will compete just fine on price especially as Aer Lingus isn't exactly flavour of the month in the oneworld 'alliance' these days.

About €750 for 2 for some flights from Dublin to Boston via Philadelphia with US Airways on Travelocity maybe some use.
    Or you could try Expedia
Don't know about the reason for the other price discrepancies. Maybe they don't think the majority of people would check out another option.

Thanks I never thought to try Travelocity! I found the flights for the dates I want for €777 including delivery of tickets. Has anyone had tickets delivered from them before?

I'm sure both Mikes thought it was such a clever name when they signed up

You must be on a very specific schedule Mike, as there is no shortage of dates in September that Aer Lingus will give you a return for €362 + cc charge
