    Hello,

I was wondering did any of you try the telephone tipsters?

Can anyone reccommend a very good one, text service pref.. ?

I dont want one that gives a pile of them, I just want a few tips per week and I want good success rates.

    Thanks

I'm more than a bit sceptical about following tipsters. If they were really that good at picking winners surely they'd keep it to themselves, back their selections and earn a living from that rather than charging others €10 a month (or whatever).

If you follow racing and study form you should be able to draw your own conclusions and bet accordingly. If you are getting someone else to do it for you then you are just gambling without having any real interest in the sport.

You only have to look at the tipster analysis (naps from various newspapers) to see that very few are showing a profit.

I put these tipster services in the same category as the guys who sell books such as 'How to win the Lotto' !! Why not go win the lotto instead of trying to sell me a book for a tenner !!!!!

Newspaper tipsters are a joke. they seem to just automatically pick the favorites for the majority of races when they should be looking for better value.

The way I normally do things is by looking at http://theracingpost.co.uk and by looking up forms and stats.

Im not the most successful gambler but I do enough in a week to normally break even. then some weeks you could be up a 100 and other weeks just down a 100. For me the thrill is just making a bet and listening to the commentry. the buzz and adrenlin rush you get is pretty cool.

I agree Washout. I can't bet on a race and not watch / listen to it. The rush is unreal, it's why so many people get addicted. I love it :D

    Thanks Guys,

I am still learning. I do not think I will use any of the telephone tipsters yet. I am using a free online service though- very good.

I have made a lot of money over the last few weeks from an online tipster (web site). He had 3 winners out of 5 this week, the 2 that lost both finished 2nd. Usually he does even better than that- his odds were not as good this week. He had 2 winners from 2 today. I made a total of 87 Euros from him this week, before I started following this tipster I nearly always lost, usually about 30 Euros per week. I have made profit every single week since following this tipster.

The reason I asked was that if this free tipster is as good as he is then I thought that the ones you pay for must be unbeleivable? I am making loads of money for the past few weeks but I thought that telephone tipsters could provide me with even more money.

Thanks for all the advice. Can anyone give me a percentage, roughly , for telephone tipsters?

If ANY tipster hits anything around 50%, he's doing well.

    I agree.

I have tested a lot of the free tipsters, to be honest they are quite poor. There are only 1 or 2 worth mentioning.

I think I will just study form for myself and try to suss out things for myself. Im only starting off but already I know not to back handicapps ;) - there a no go in my humble opinion.

Also I know that gambles usually mean something in Ireland ;) but in the uK they seem to be less significant. Apart from that I think I should look at each race individually.

I have made a profit from betting since I started (4 figures) but I have only used a tipping service (free one) to do this. I want to be able to pick these horses for myself based on experience :) .

    Hi,

    The link was http://www.horseracingtipsforfree.hostrocket.com :)

They have moved I think but that address still gets me in. All you need is an email address. Had a good 100/30 winner saturday but I missed it as I was away and had no access to my emails. They are getting an SMS alertthing sometime :) .

Some of the other tipsters give a free trial but their success rates are very poor and after their free trial some charge £300 per month  . No thankyou.

If the link doesn't work I can go get their new address.

The little guy on At The Races's stateside is making the punters serious csh lately, he's on again tonight, in case anyone watches the show. And if you don't have an online account, try betfair referral code 9PRD6GEEC ;)
